We all know Steph Curry is an amazing person on and off the court, and he continues to add to his list of accomplishments. He recently committed to funding Howard’s golf program for six years, starting in the 2020-2021 season. This is the first time ever that the HBCU will have a Division I men’s and women’s golf team.

“Today is obviously a historic opportunity for not just Howard but I think all historically black colleges and universities,” said Howard university’s President, Dr. Wayne A.I. Frederick, at a news conference regarding the matter.

Beyond just providing funds for underfunded schools, Curry’s donation to the golf program provides a huge stepping stone for black people to access a sport that is oftentimes not accessible, due to underlying systemic racial issues. This is the first time ever that Howard will have a Division I men’s and women’s golf team.
